Flat roof waterproofing system
Before installing the new elastomeric membrane, we must assess the strength of the structure to ensure that the covering has a solid support. If necessary, our team can replace rotten wood or repair any weakened areas. After that, Les Couvreurs Duro-Toit can install two layers of asphalt black paper which act as a vapour and flame barrier. In that way, the possibility of fire is eliminated at the source. Then our team installs an elastomeric undercoat that acts as a primary sealing layer. If necessary, the elastomeric undercoat may be laminated on a support panel. If required, our roofers can also install support panels to level the surface of the flat roof and eliminate imperfections. It is also possible to perform the following steps:
- Prime all vertical surfaces, such as walls.
- Install an adhesive elastomeric undercoat that ensures the vertical surface is waterproof.
- Install a heat-sealing elastomer finishing coat to the undercoat. This layer protects from the sun, UV rays, and weathering.
- Apply the elastomeric membrane to the vertical surfaces.
- Install or replace steel flashings that protect the ends of the elastomeric membrane and the parts exposed to the wind.
